Hey everyone welcome to another DailyJim this episode for thursday, july, 21st 2022 and trying to keep the schedule of Monday through Thursday, I will do this one and then take a few days for the weekend today. What did I want to talk about?
Ah there was the January six committee hearing this night.
I'll talk about that tomorrow. I'm not in the mood really talking about the politics right now, it's quite late. Um I want to talk about.
Not sleeping well, but not necessarily knowing why. So for example, um I feel exhausted right now. I I know one of the reasons is that I went to bed very late after coding a lot. I think another one of the reasons is that, and I didn't know this until after I woke up that there were, chainsaws and a lot of tree trimming and cutting down going on in my neighbor's yard and, and you know, got asked, oh didn't you hear, didn't wake you up? I said no, I didn't, I had no idea it happened. So I wonder if I actually did get woken up by it, but I just don't recall it. Maybe it's something that incorporated into one of my dreams or really just kind of disturbed my sleep without me being aware.
And when I think about that, I think about remember being back in Tanzania when I lived there, I think it was what I moved there, I was like 23, about, and remember some days I would wake up and I'd be so tired, and I'd look around and I'd see my roommates and I see my neighbors and they all looked so tired too. And I thought it was a hot night and maybe it was a night where the electricity went out for a lot of people. And so people did not sleep at all hot and humid with no fan. And I could just see it permeating throughout society. So I wonder if there are times like that where there are things that are causing many of us to not sleep well, but we have no idea why.
Because when we're sleeping, we're not aware of. Or maybe it's something that's so subtle that's permeating that we don't realize how much that will affect our sleep. I remember going to this carnival is like trinidadian carnival not in Trinidad but in L. A. And with the music blasting. I love the music so happy, so excited. Soka I love that music. And what I've noticed about soca is that it's so high tempo that sometimes when I try to go home and go to sleep at night I won't sleep well because my body is moving at such a high pace too. It's like dancing to the fast beats still and luckily in some of those events the purpose is not to sleep well. It's to wake up and go dance again. But um I've noticed this just in my life recently that if I'm up coding late at night and I'm coding and I'm thinking fast and my fingers are flying on the keyboard when I go to sleep I may sleep but I don't, get a very deep rested sleep because I think my body my diaphragm and everything like my muscles and everything are moving at a much faster pace still.
And so I may not get that slow rested asleep that can help me basically feel well rested when I wake up. So I'm curious if there are things for you that you may have learned after the fact or that you're starting to notice that really affect your sleep. That seems so subtle and so indirect yet it seems to have an effect on how you're sleeping positive quote unquote positively or negatively and whether they, you know, affect other people around you as all as well. Oh man.
So on that note, it's a little bit early. I'm gonna stop. I hope you have a great night. I hope you have a great weekend and I will talk to you on the, on monday. So take care. Bye.
