Hello everyone, welcome to another Daily Gym. This is the episode for Tuesday, May 14th, 2024. Today I want to talk about trying to finish things before I get started with others.
Okay, this whole idea that I think with the podcast I want to have the website finished. But the problem is if I add different things, there's always something new to add to the website. And when I say finished I mean finished before doing more episodes just because.
It's kind of a pain to go back and fix all the episodes but why I wonder why I mean I'm sure I've asked this question before the podcast but why do I try to have one thing finished before for starting another thing.
Now, when I say that, what comes to mind is relationships as well. I think a lot of times people want to have a romantic relationship finished before they start another. Actually, some other people give the advice, no, start the second one while you're still in the first, just because you never know how it's going to go. See if you could leave when it's ready to go. Same thing with jobs. Sometimes people say, finish your job, then look for another one. Some people say continue to look while you're still at the job. I think about the podcast and I go, I haven't recorded many episodes with guests in quite a while. And part of that is because I was trying to figure out the video production side of it, but also how to incorporate video into the website and into the forum and how to do all these different things. I am on the brink of figuring out how to make audio and video both work with the interactive transcript and the chapters on the website, which also shows up in the forum. But does it really matter? Are people even listening to stuff on the website? Are they on YouTube? Are they on Spotify? Are they on Apple Podcasts?
How do people even access stuff? And does it really matter? Matter maybe what really matters is just getting it out to people and that some of this is just me having fun for fun's sake i don't know if you call it fun but um me procrastinating in a different way but like cool artistic procrastination but procrastination nonetheless because if i think about it what really is the point is the point to have such a beautiful user interface on my website, but then I would have to drive people to the website? Or is it easier just to get the word out there and have people understand or at least listen and get involved from that point of view? Most podcast websites, most websites in general are very not user-friendly. And so I I think the part of me likes to have high-quality user interactions, and so that's possibly why I'm driving for it, because I can see it as a differentiator.
But also I think maybe it's just a method of procrastination.
Maybe it's just fear that sometimes it's hard to juggle multiple things at the same time.
And I don't know if, yeah, fear that I won't be able to do it. I don't know if this resonates with you. I wonder if there are other things you're struggling with where you're like, nope, I've got to finish this before I can focus on this.
And how many things do you do at a time? maybe people solve this by just hiring people and working with a team because that way people can focus on different areas and try to not do all the different things at the same time um yeah i don't know anyways i'm gonna yawn into the podcast because it's a very human state of being beyond human mammals maybe other animals i don't know anyways i will talk to you you all tomorrow bye oh wow 30 minutes 30 seconds short should i just keep adding time, oh we can just give like some late night laughs into the call and with 17 seconds left i think intro and outro are about seven seconds each i think we will reach five minutes all right take care y'all.
